Canton Harbor 2020-2021 Reset and Restart Plan: Students will begin VIRTUALLY on August 26, 2020

July 29, 2020

Reset and Restart Fall 2020-2021

Students, Parents, and Guardians of Canton Harbor,

After many hours reviewing the guidelines from Governor Michael DeWine, the Ohio Health Department, and the Ohio Department of Education and meeting with Canton Harbor’s Board of Education, the Ohio Council of Community Schools, the Canton Department of Health, and Canton Harbor’s Reset and Restart Team, Canton Harbor High School has decided that starting the 2020-2021 school year VIRTUALLY is the best way to ensure the safety of our students, staff, parents, and families. Canton Harbor will review data from the Ohio Department of Health at the conclusion of the first grading period to determine how learning will continue; virtually or in-person. This was not an easy decision, and we understand that this will continue to prove difficult for many students and families.

I have provided some highlights below to help you understand some of the finer details with how a virtual start to the 2020-2021 school year will look and feel. The goal is to get all students back into the classrooms when the time is right, but we need to move cautiously to ensure that all students, teachers, parents, and families are safe. Keep in mind that this is an ever evolving situation, and that our Reset and Restart Plan must allow for ultimate flexibility at any point in the school year.

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we work to make the most out of this difficult situation. As always, please feel free to contact Canton Harbor with any questions or concerns that you may have. We are here to work with you, and to make the most out of this very difficult situation.

Sincerely,

Steven A. Nichols
